The technique showed in this video is contrary to almost every thing taught in landing fish. We call it dipping the tip and it really works. No matter how big the fish is it will work. We have tried it on trout, steelhead, sea run browns, tarpon and bone fish. It works! Give it a try.
Randy and Brian thought that they had a relatively warm, day to go fishing. The ten day forecast showed the 1st as 35 degrees and cloudy with the next 9 days with highs in the teens and low twenty’s. They took advantage of the best day in the near future and went fishing. The day started out alright, weather wise. Around 30 degrees is not bad for the first of December. It felt OK. But as the day went on the weather turned foul. As you will see in the video it snowed quite hard and the temp dropped to around 20 degrees as the day rolled on. The fishing on the other hand was out of sight. The boys caught fish on nymphs and steamers all day long and caught a lot of nice ones. The biggest was 23.5 inches long and had a huge white fish in its mouth. Enjoy.
Check out what this big brown ate for lunch. This white fish was over 7 inches long which was over 1/3 the length of the brown. And even though he had this big whitey in his mouth he still nailed the streamer. That is one aggressive fish.
It has been a tradition in our family for as long as I can remember to go fishing the day before and after Thanksgiving. The holiday its self is reserved for turkey and football like most families, but the rest of the break is for catching fish. I was included in this tradition upon the age of 12. I remember that first winter fishing trip. We went to the Madison River and fished around Slide Inn and 3 Dollar Bridge. The snow was flying and the water was swift. Weighing only about 60 lbs and I had to hold on to my Dad’s arm to keep from floating away. I loved every minuet of it. And every year since I have been along with my brothers and my Dad. It is something we all look forward to. I can’t wait for Christmas, when we do the same thing!
This video was taken on Saturday. Liza, Adam, and Randy went to the Madison River. The fishing is outstanding up there right now and should be for the rest of this year. The video is all of Liza and why not, she is a great fisherman and loves doing it.
This is a beautiful flock of geese that flew over me the other day as I was working outside. Another flock had flown by and landed on the river that was just as big about 2 hours earlier. The river was very noise that day.
I really needed the time away to relax and charge my batteries again, and the great outdoors you call home in Idaho really did the trick…I didn’t want to leave:) the beauty and stillness was one of the best trips I have gone on with Sysco…and I have been on a lot during my 11 years, this one was the BEST!
