Bob Hanke and I have been coming to your lodge for something like 25 years. We've always had excellent fishing results and have never had a bad trip. However, the trip we had this year to the Henry's Fork, specifically Bear Gulch, has got to be the best fishing day I have ever had, and I think Bob agrees.

I've fished New Zealand, Alaska, British Columbia, Oregon, many of the western rivers in California, and our day on the Bear Gulch stretch has got to be rated as Number 1. I've never written you before telling you how enjoyable your lodge, the various river stretches, the food, and the wonderful guides are, so thought I would finally do that after 25 years of total enjoyment at your beautiful Teton Lodge. Roy and Ford also had a great time and we all agreed that this was probably ranked as the best - it certainly did in my case.

I'm hoping to bring my three sons next salmon fly hatch. I'm sure Bob, Roy, etc. will also be there. John, I'll never forget standing by you and catching 14 big trout out of the same hole on the Bear Gulch stretch. I also have it etched in my brain - your admonition to "strike hard", which I will not easily forget.
