Sage has a new update on their fly rod tubes. These tubes are quite different than any other tube out on the market. The tube is no longer round. An octagonal shape will probably aid in the protection and make the tube stronger. The edges aren’t flat either. The shape is further enhanced with concave and convex edges. Both ends of the tube have rubberized caps. One of the caps also has a place to put your name and contact information. With one of the caps, you make a quarter turn to seal the tube from the elements like water and dirt. A shoulder strap is included. Look for these fly rod tubes from Sage in February of this year.
I have several traditional aluminum fly rod tubes with dents. I also have left a spare rod in the old metal sage tube in my boat as a spare only to find it full of water. Hopefully, this new tube will protect my considerable investment in Sage fly rods. We will have some of these tubes in stock soon and will update this post with our hands-on thoughts.
